How to Sing High - The Key to Becoming a Versatile Vocalist

One thing that every singer wants to learn how to do is sing the high notes. Learning how to sing high is the key to becoming a versatile vocalist with a wide range of singing skills.

Unfortunately, many singers neglect two of the most important aspects of singing when they try to learn how to sing high. The two neglected aspects of high singing are posture and psychology. These aspects of high singing are two most important and the key to successfully singing high.

Developing a really good posture maybe the most important thing that you can do when you learn how to sing high. Believe it or not, posture controls your vocal tone and sets the range at which you can sing. Many singers never learn good posture and as result never learn how to sing high.

Always stand up when you sing because almost every singer has to stand when they sing. Look straight ahead and never slack when you are singing slacking can really reduce your ability to sing high. A great way to develop good posture when you learn how to sing high is to practice your singing in front of a mirror. This way you can see that you are maintaining good posture and remind your self to remain in good posture.

Keep your body relaxed when you practice your singing if you want to learn how to sing high. This means that you should wear comfortable clothes and shoes when you practice your singing. It also means that you should get a good night's sleep and limit your alcohol use in order to be relaxed. Since the aim is to stay relaxed, you definitely should never practice your singing when you are angry, upset, tired or feeling sick.

Psychological preparation is just as important you are learning how to sing high. The major psychological preparation that you should take is to focus on your singing. This means no distractions when you practice. Sing in a quiet place where you won't get distracted by what's going on outside. Turn off the radio and the TV set and turn off the ringer on the phone so that these things don't distract you from your singing.

The next step is to concentrate on your singing; think about the note you want to sing and visualize yourself singing it. Don't rush yourself. Take your time and don't get discouraged when you try to sing it and fail. Practice it again and again until you get it right. If you don't get it right after awhile, stop and go over your practice in your mind to see if you can figure out what went wrong.

Another important aspect of psychological preparation is to have a good attitude when you practice. Relax yourself first with relaxation, techniques, a little reading or simply sitting and listening to music before you begin. Get yourself in the mood by listening to some songs that contain the kind of notes you want to sing. If you want to learn how to sing high, listen to songs with a lot of high notes before practice. This will help get you in the mood and help you visualize those notes. Don't practice high notes if you're feeling sick or agitated. Do something else instead and come to back to practice when you're ready.
